1971 - Unusual Visitor at Broad Street

SR 2-BIL units 2135, 2111, and 2140 at Broad Street station, in September 1971, on the Eastern Region Staff Railway Society 'Farewell to the Southern BILs' railtour.

The train had been loco-hauled - by a Class 73 electro-diesel - over non-electrified track between Twickenham and Richmond.

Today, one 2-BIL unit has been preserved by the National Railway Museum, and Broad Street station has completely disappeared, and is now a plaza and offices..
