Senator Inhofe Precicts No Climate Bill
COPENHAGEN -- Senator James M. Inhofe, the Oklahoma Republican, speaking at an impromptu news conference in the media center at climate talks, said there is no chance of climate legislation moving forward early next spring, as Senator John Kerry, Democrat of Massachusetts, had pledged here on Wednesday.
Mr. Inhofe also asserted that recently leaked email messages and files of climate researchers "debunked" scientific findings underpinning the E.P.A. ruling that greenhouse gases were a danger to human health and welfare, and thus open to regulation under the Clean Air Act. A variety of scientific organizations have said that while the disclosed files raise some questions, they do nothing to underdcut decades of science pointing to a growing, and potentially disruptive, human influence on the climate.
