The region of North Lato comprises the counties of Ngamring, Saga and Drongpa, which occupy the upper reaches of the Yarlung Tsangpo ཡར་ཀླུངས་གཙང་པོ་ or Brahmaputra, and those of its major tributaries, including the Raga Tsangpo and Rikyu Tsangpo. Among these, Ngamring county, sometimes referred to as the gateway to Mount Kailash (Gangs Rin Po Che, Ti-se) and Far-West Tibet, is the barren area which divides the Raga Tsangpo and the Yarlung Tsangpo ཡར་ཀླུངས་གཙང་པོ་ or Brahmaputra.

The most important historical sites are located at Chung Riwoche and Zangzang Lhadrak. The county capital is located at Ngamring.

Area: 17.804 sq km.
