Zebras have many of the same characteristics of the horse when in comes to communication. They whinny to maintain contact with family members and a contented zebra makes a blowing, or snorting noise through the lips, just like the horse. If you spend some time watching them you will notice that family members regularily groom each other, nibbling each other's necks (called "Necking" I wonder?- Hummmmm) and backs with their teeth or lips.
