Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, along with other members of the United States House Armed Services Committee and the Energy and Commerce Committee, visited the Missile Defense Agency's Sea Based X-Band Radar facility, which is currently in port at Pearl Harbor undergoing maintenance. Built atop a semi-submersible drilling platform, the Sea Based X-Band Radar is one of the most sophisticated pieces of equipment within the Department of Defense's Ballistic Missile Defense System and has the and has the ability to track a moving object the size of a baseball from over 2,900 miles away, making it an integral part of the overall security architecture in the Asia-Pacific region.
