solar flowers

Inspired by a Hacktory blog post on making light-up origami flowers for Mother's day and this Evil Mad Scientist post on electric origami, I wound some wire stems, soldered a low-mA tiny LED on each, and added the "Improved BEP Pummer" circuit to make solar-powered flowers that store energy in a couple of supercapacitors during the day and glow at night.

In my haste to give them away back in May, I neglected to take photos of my work. Luckily I was able to briefly borrow them back later this summer for documentation.
