Baby Mockingbird Out of the Nest, Day Two

    Newer Older

He's perched in one of the rose bushes on the side of the house. Mom is still looking out for him and will dive-bomb anyone who gets too close. I stole a shot while his mom was off getting food. What a privilege to watch this little one grow up.

Awwww, I get so much joy watching the birds. They are so protective! Another fantastic capture of this little baby, Kristina!

Thanks, Lori! I know they'll be gone soon. This one gets bigger every day. He's also sounding less like a baby and more like a mockingbird. Hopefully, I'll be photographing this one's youngsters next year!

Oh, he looks so vulnerable. Those legs must be as wide as toothpicks. Love the little tufts of fuzz on his head. Beautiful shot.

He has such a pugnacious look here - little, but brave. I like that!

Nice wildlife shot with a very poignant message. I always feel for these little fledglings trying to make a go of it.

Thanks everyone! Seems this youngster has flown into the next yard. I can hear him, but not see him. I, too, sincerely hope he's successful in becoming a mature mockingbird. He grows fast, but there are so many predators in our neighborhood. He was more protected in my yard......
