Butte Fire 2015
The Butte Fire broke out the afternoon of Wednesday, September 9, 2015 as a vegetation fire in Calaveras County, later that evening the blazed merged with another wildfire in Amador County and began spreading in several directions.

The Fire threatened 15,000 people. After day five, it had destroyed 81 homes and 51 outbuildings.

The Red Cross, working with a number of government and community partners, responded quickly to provide lodging, meals, water, comfort, medical assistance by our nurses and mental health volunteers, and information to families who had to evacuate.
