Ha Long Bay Sunset

Ha LongBay Vietnam

Looking back over these photos, ones which were hidden on my work computer for the last four months, I am struck by how calming they are. There was a wonderful silence here. A calm, a freshness, an escape. It was beautiful.

We sat on the top deck of the ship on loungers. The ship, anchored, slowly circling as the sun set. The small boat engines hummed as they passed. Birds sang. The water lapped on the sides of the ship. I thought if I could inhale this, swallow it, consume it, I would be forever calm. I would have peace.
