Orpheum

The Orpheum Theatre, at Main and Beale. Built in 1928 (at a lavish cost of $1.6 million), the Orpheum replaced the 1890 Grand Opera House, which had burned. It originally showed mostly Vaudeville, then became a movie theater, but has since been restored and is now used for concerts and major touring theatrical productions.
