Two urns on a vacant lot, Larimer, February 28, 2016
An urban lacuna on a corner. One neighbor is catching rain water in a barrel, has a new privacy fence, a really big white windowless facade, and satellite TV. Another is a dilapidated, peeling wreck, featuring a boarded up window. Across the street there is a church with a red door. The corner lot itself is mostly rubble, accented by two improbable urns, empty but thoughtfully placed, and a blue tarp, echoing the blue house in the background. I'm left with a sense of hope for renewal mixed with mystery about what has disappeared and sadness for the decrepit wreck whose demise is imminent.
