With multiple stops to cross the street, Palácio Foz ( Foz Palace) is
another landmark architecture in downtown(Baxia) Lisbon. which it is a
huge pink building located west side of Praça dos
Restauradores(Restauradores square). It is now served as the national
tourism office. They provide some tourism information, and sell some
authorized Lisbon souvenir.
The palace was once home of the Marquis of Foz.
It was built after the 1755 earthquake by the Marques de Castelo Melhor who commissioned the Italian architect Francisco Xavier Fabri to construct the palace in the new styles modeled on the Versailles palace Paris and the Palacio Real de Madrid. In 1889, it is then bought by Marquis of Foz, and renovated in the interior to a more luxurious way.
The interior of the palace could be only visit by special permission. Normal tourist have no chance to get inside the palace. However, some folks on the internet did have gone in and taken photo.
