The Bonneville Salt Flats is a State Park, but there isn't an "entry" to the park to speak of. It's just a vast, flat, open area, with few possible "destinations", so you wouldn't have anywhere to "go" after "entering" the park anyway. That, I guess, doesn't stop people from just getting off the highway and driving onto/into the park with their 4WD vehicles and having a blast. I'm not quite sure of the legalities of that, and I don't condone it, but the tracks left behind on the salty surface by such vehicles do have certain mesmerizing qulaities about them.
