Divided Flock of Arctic Terns
Arctic Terns, North Cove Beach, Westport, WA
For nearly two hours I kept walking, at the same decided pace, forward toward this rather large flock of Arctic Terns; I had my then "new" Canon 20D, with only the 55mm-85mm lens attached. I had to get very close to the group for them to fill the frame. So as I kept walking toward them, about half the cell would take off and fly back down the beach away from me, then after I took a few more steps, the last half would lift off and fly down to join them. Then, I would repeat my actions over again, and begin walking toward them. This went on until finally the whole flock had enough and flew several MILES down the beach to get away from me!
