TD: Starting The Acension
… we went into our tent. Four people in a small tent on a parking lot. Sometimes a car came by. Its lights shining brightly in our cozy dark atmosphere. I used my torch to indicate we were there. It was quite scary because we could only hope that the cars (or busses every once in a while) would see us. Luckily and obviously they all did. After around 9 p.m. it was silent and no-one of us spoke a word. But everyone felt that the others were still awake but we didn’t want to talk because our plan was to get up at 2:30 a.m. the very next morning. At 2:30 I was unhappy that our plan succeeded but after 30 minutes (and also after dressing up and brushing teeth) the mood brightened in the total darkness of the fifth station on the volcano Mt. Fuji.
At 3 a.m. we started our way to the top. Guided only by our torches and the bright night sky the ascension went on rather slowly. But after one or two hours it totally paid it all off. There was the first colour of the day. Just a little bright stripe near the horizon – in the land of the rising sun!
