The Mandatory Looking-At-The-Horizon Summit Photo
I was going to take an arm's length self-portrait, but another hiker at the summit offered to take my photo and actually suggested this shot. It seemed like as good an idea as any, so I let him. This is the result.
I should add that as I stood there, looking out, I tried to imagine being an explorer, back in the day, navigating and negotiating miles and miles of rough terrain, climbing this one last peak from its eastern side, thinking I would be the first one to gaze across the bay, only to discover thousands of people already here.
