Six Seconds of an Anthill Without Ants
Challenge #50: Long Exposure
My idea for this shot was to take a long (several seconds) shot of the Opera in Oslo, with calm, flat water in front. I also wanted lots of people scurring about with ghost trails, since the Opera is known as an "ant hill". Unfortunately the weather was grey and cold, resulting in very few tourists running about. Oh well, at least I got two out of three. :-)
Camera on tripod and remotely triggered. Shot with a Canon 17-40mm at 20mm,
with a gazillion filters mounted to maximize the shutter length (graduated polarizer + 6 stop ND + graduated ND). It was still very bright, so the final exposure was 6 seconds, ISO 100, f/22.
Post processing in Adobe Lightroom, cleaning out quite a bit of spots (forgot to clean the sensor!) and adjusted color and sharpness. Also some selective exposure adjustments to get a better mood in the image.
