White-naped Honeyeater/ Gilbert's Honeyeater

This photo of an immature White-naped Honeyeater was taken near Esperance in WA. It is probably of the race chloropsis which have a broader nape band and the eye cresent is a pale blue. Besides the south-west corner of WA they are also found on the east coast to near inland regions from around Cairns in Queensland down through NSW and Victoria and into the south-east corner of SA.

In 2015 this particular species was renamed Melithreptus chloropsis with the common name of Gilbert's Honeyeater. Details of this renaming can be found at
