9/9/08 - Smokehouse Ceremony
RALEIGH - Dedication ceremony of a plaque for the smokehouse at the Keeter Training Center. Built in 1964, the smokehouse is the oldest structure at the training center. It was built from the bricks of the original Station 5 on Park Drive, which demolished by firefighters in 1961. Read more about the smokehouse. The ceremony included comments by Battalion Chief Luther Walters, Fire Chief John McGrath, and Historian Mike Legeros. Attendees, which included retired personnel, were invited to sign a metal plate, to be affixed between the plaque and the smokehouse wall. Mike Legeros and Lee Wilson photographs.
