Barn Owl [ Tyto alba ]

    Newer Older

The thing about barn owls is that they love dark barns . This was one of two in a very dark barn high in the rafters. I hate using flash w/birds but had no choice. I hope to go back and take better pics now that I know they are there.

NO....not taken with my D3x.....it's still in the box.

Fantastic capture, Rebecca! I guess they don't call them barn owls for nothing :) You did a great job in the low light though!

Excellent capture of the barn owl! How did you manage not to flash the eyes?

This beautiful bird doesn't seem to mind the flash at all. Fantastic shot and such wonderful details. Well done, Rebecca.

Awesome shot I LOVE those owls they are so pretty, i like the shape of their faces and those big eyes! I know what you mean about using flash with birds, I hate to as well but at times like in your situation here when you need to i think its ok, as long as flash isnt going off constantly. Great shot!! :)

Aww, what a beautiful owl! Flash or no flash, this is a great shot. I really need to get a lens with a good zoom on it, but the portrait lens is still first on my list. Anyway, I love this!

Awesome picture of a barn owl...so you know the person who owns the farm? I have yet to see a barn owl. They are just so neat!

      That's lovely!!!
There's plenty of owls here (in north Alentejo, Portugal), but they're only active during the night... I love hearing their calls, but it's really hard to see them...
