London - Rainy Twilight at The Shard and Tower Bridge
The New London Shard and Tower Bridge - London, UK.
I've always wanted to take a photo of the newest London skyscraper, The Shard, from this angle, and finally had the chance to do it last night. However, since we don't live in a perfect world (in England, that means it always rains), last night was not the best night to do it. Rain started to fall as soon as I took my first shot so I was forced to pack up early. That means I have to go back and do it another time. But for now, here it is - the new and much talked-about Shard with the iconic Tower Bridge and the incredible D800.
Now the tallest skyscraper in London, the Shard (also known as Shard London Bridge, the London Bridge Tower, or the Shard of Glass) stands at 309.6 metres (1,016 ft) high. The Shard is also the tallest building in Europe, and is also the second tallest free-standing structure in the United Kingdom. This tower was designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, best known for creating Paris’s Pompidou Centre, in collaboration with Britain’s Richard Rogers. The Shard was inaugurated on 5 July 2012, and is scheduled to open to the public in February 2013.
