April 15, 2015 - Activists Occupy BP Headquarters 5 Years After Gulf Oil Disaster
On eve of shareholder meeting, protestors risk arrest in Houston; say they will stay put until BP addresses their grievances from biggest marine spill in history.

Houston, TX – Protestors are staging a sit-in style occupation this morning inside the main entrance to BP’s Houston headquarters to mark the upcoming five-year anniversary of the biggest marine oil spill in history. On April 20, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon disaster killed eleven workers and began spewing 4.9 million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico over 87 days.

Today’s action is the first of many demonstrations planned across the Gulf South leading up to the April 20. This includes planned protests on April 16 outside BP’s annual shareholder meeting in London.
