Yellowbill (Ceuthmochares aereus australis)
A nightmare of a bird to photograph as they are skulking and keep to dense cover.
This bird is a Cuckoo-relative similar to the Asian Malkohas. It keeps to well-vegetated forests and forest edges but is often not very vocal.
I once spent the best part of a day trying to get a photograph of the West African race of this bird at Brufut in The Gambia .......with no success.
The image above is of the migratory southern African race spp. australis which spends the austral winter in East Africa.
Photographed through a small window of vegetation on the edge of the Arabuko-Sokoke forest, Gede, Kenya.
Framed by a friend.
