"Tammie Norrie o' the Bass Canna kiss a bonny lass"
Atlantic Puffin with Sand-eels.
Framed by a friend.
The Scots/Shetland name for the Atlantic Puffin is Tammie norrie. In the Firth of Forth large numbers breed on the Isle of May off the Fife coast but previously the Bass Rock (off the Lothian coast) also held a large breeding colony.
The name Tammie Norrie is also sometimes applied to a stupid-looking, bashful man.
There is an old Scots rhyme that alludes to the difficulty that the large billed Puffin (and by inference "awkward men") have when kissing -hence the title of this image!
