Black-bellied Bustard (Lissotis melanogaster) female

Also known as Black-bellied Korhaan.

There are few images of females on Flickr.

This image was taken in the Mara, Kenya where it can be confused with White-bellied Bustard and Hartlaub's Bustard. White-bellied can be easily separated by its rather plain brown back and wings which show a strong speckled pattern in the other two species. Separating Black-bellied and Hartlaub's females is much more tricky -Hartlaub's females have an indistinct vertical cream line running down the foreneck and a speckled hindneck. Black-bellied Bustard females have a finely vermiculated brown neck (as seen in this image).
