Sproat Falls & Fish Ladder
This is the most overlooked tourist attractions in the Alberni Valley. Between 100,000 and 400,000 Sockeye Salmon migrate through the falls and fish ladder every year in the late spring and early summer. After passing through the falls they move into the depths of Sproat Lake until the late fall when the lake cools. Then they spawn along the beaches, rivers and streams that feed the lake.
This is a golden opportunity to attract people, whether they are visitors or new residents.
It is time the ACRD, the owners of the north side and the south side, and the City start talking about how to make it so.
