Noguchi -- playground equipment

Noguchi's playground equipment designs were criticized on the grounds they were too dangerous. These models were developed as part of a design for a playground to be constructed in Hawaii, but remained unrealized.

Sekana, harpreet, and livinginacity . . . so glad you like this one. i think it's really wonderful that Noguchi wished to address children in a very direct, physical manner and considered playground equipment to be sculpture and worthy of careful design. his interest in bringing people into contact with the materials of his sculpture is something that's incredibly endearing, authentic, and sensual.

they look a lot more interesting than the usual soft curved plastic blobs you see on playgrounds. Love the swing set in particular.
