The idea of 'tattoo,' only in its most base form, is about aesthetics and exhibitionism. Body art frequently embodies much greater significance to the individual. Christina's art is a collection of symbols personifying powerful experiences and philosophies she has faced.

Represented are concepts, resistant to change, whose magnitude brings humanity together, such as life & death, and other rites of passage, real and imagined. The process of acquiring tattoos is an expression of her acceptance for that which is greater than herself. They help her never to forget aspects of life which can easily be dismissed in difficult environments. Body art has helped her cope with, and understand, life and has been an aid to her, on her road to self-discovery.
