1106 Climbing Minimbah

The final gasp of daylight finds 1106, 1427 and HL203 ascending the grade up from Singleton on WC802 loaded containerised coal train, operated by Qube from Werris Creek Coal Mine for Mountain Industries (Kooragang Island). The three locomotives at the front of this train are all EMD power, however they could not be more different!

The 1100 Class locomotives were built by NREC and imported from The USA. Despite being new-build locomotives, they use reconditioned EMD 16-645E3B engines.

The 14 Class locomotives are ex Danish Railways MZ III Class, another EMD product, this time from NOHAB. Sixteen of the class were purchased and imported into Australia by "fallen flag" operator Lachlan Valley Rail Freight.

HL203 is a renumbered former NSWGR 422 Class locomotive, built by Clyde Engineering and owned by CFCL Australia for lease service.
