S.S. American Mariner

Went fishing over the 2006 Memorial Day weekend with the family and took the pocket sized Canon Power Shot S330 with me.


Located about 7 miles east of Point Lookout, Maryland in the Chesapeake Bay is the American Mariner. Commissioned as Liberty Ship at the very beginning of World War II and later became a training vessel for the USCG, the American Mariner was scuttled by the US Navy in 20 feet of water and used as a target practice ship in 1966. This is pretty much how she looks 40 years later still in the water. More can be read about this ship at:
