Callsign: AMERICAN
American Airlines is a proud, founding member of oneworld.

American Airlines, Inc., operating as American Airlines (AA), is a major U.S. airline and a subsidiary of AMR Corporation. It is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, adjacent to its largest hub at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. American Airlines operates an extensive international and domestic network, with scheduled flights throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia/Pacific. In January 2013, American Airlines released a newer image for the airline, with a new logo and livery. However, the signature chrome design will be forfeited.

On 14FEB13, American Airlines officially announced they will be creating the largest airline in world, through the merger between AA and US Airways. The new airline will be retaining the American image and livery. The new airline will also be the world's largest Airbus A321 operator, inheriting US Airways' fleet and AA's orders itself post-merger.

American Airlines also operates a regional service, much like the other US and Canadian airlines, under the name American Eagle and American Connection.

American Airlines operates an all-exclusive fleet of Boeing/Mcdonnell-Douglas units, including the Boeing 737, Boeing 757, Boeing 767, Boeing 777, MD-83 and MD-90. AA also has continual orders for the Boeing 737 and Boeing 777, as well as orders for the Airbus A319, A320 and A321.

Note, however, that both companies will remain operating individually and remain a member of oneworld and Star Alliance respectively until the merger closes.
