Gamalost means "Old Cheese"

I bought it because Wikipedia described it as a "pungent traditional Norwegian cheese" rarely found outside Norway. I like stinky cheese a lot, so I had high hopes.

Unfortunately, it was among the worst things I've ever eaten in my life. It didn't smell particularly strong, but it tasted absolutely awful. The texture is granular, like cheese made out of sand, but the flavour is much worse.

Sorry, Norway... I tried to be open minded, but this was gross. Anyone want a free chunk of gamalost?
