Petrie Terrace State School, Brisbane, May 1970

The annual distribution of prizes was made at the Boys' Petrie-terrace State School yesterday afternoon. Mr. J. J. Walsh, M.A., a member of the Senate of the University of Queensland, presided and in addressing the boys he reminded them that some of the most distinguished scholars of the State had received their primary education at Petrie-terrace. During the distribution of prizes several songs were sung by the boys, under the direction of Mr. Kaye. The proceedings terminated with cheers for the committee, Mr. Kaye, and the staff, and "For he's a Jolly Good Felloe" was sung by the whole school in honor of the head master, Mr. Vowles, who appreciated the compliment.
