Hotel Francis - Caloundra, c 1940

Brisbane Telegraph

Beaches Crowded At Caloundra

The beaches at Caloundra are crowded with many gay beach umbrellas, and the weather has been perfect.

The Hotel Francis is the centre of activities. Mrs. Pat Stewart welcomed her guests on Christmas Eve to a few drinks at the new cocktail bar which she has decorated beautifully. Mrs. Stewart, whose home was previously in Melbourne, looked most attractive in a Paisley cotton beach frock featuring the new shirred bodice.

Guests at the hotel included Mr. and Mrs. John Hirman, Brisbane. Mrs. Hirman wore a mauve and yellow linen frock as she was seen dancing on the verandah.

Miss Patricia Wall, who is staying at Caloundra until the New Year, was wearing an Air Force blue linen frock.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Seales and daughter, Nola, from Indooroopilly, are spending two weeks at Caloundra.

Miss Joyce Collins and her fiance, Mr. Lawrie Miller, are spending four days at the hotel. Joyce looked a dream in a powder blue marquisette and lace ballerina frock. Mr. and Mrs. R. P. France are spending four days here also.

Blonde model Shirley McCartney wore a red and white striped seersucker frock featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline.
