NJ: Broad-tailed Hummer Before Bedtime
I waited many hours to see this bird, the first NJ record of Broad-tailed Hummingbird, a hummer usually seen out west in the U.S. He had appeared in the early morning, and then, not so much. He finally returned to this feeder, on private property, at 6pm sharp. The sun was just about down, so you can't see the red of the gorget. The photo was taken through the fence (the homeowner said birders could stand on the front lawn). No flash used.
