Bamberg Altes Rathaus

    Newer Older

The only city hall that I know of that is perched on a rock in a river, Bamberg's signature building is an astonishing piece of renaissance architecture.

Several photos were stitched together with Autostitch to get this view.

I have submitted this picture to Wikipedia for their Bamberg article.

I'm putting this on my list of places to visit. Great shot.

Yes, this is a beautiful city overall; it has been designated an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Worth the visit, for sure.

Bamberg has essentially developed into a baroque town and yet has still managed to preserve its medieval structures. Virtually unscathed by war, Bamberg’s old town is now the largest ensemble of buildings in Germany to have been preserved in its original state.

According to fd's Flickr Scout, this is my first (and currently, only) photo to make it on the Flickr Explore page. Cool. It has made it as high as 43rd most "interesting" photo for July 7th.

      Hi Alan,
thanks for commenting on my blog! And thank you very much for sharing this pic with the rest of the world. Unfortunately I didn't take pictures of Bamberg as long as I lived there - and therefore have to use pictures from others to show my friends how incredible beautiful Bamberg is. On the other, I am a very bad photographer - so using photos from others seems to be the better alternative. Your photos capture the special atmosphere oc Bamberg very well!
      Cheers!
      silke :)

Thank you for sharing. I too love to take panoramas. This is my second visit to Bamberg. Our short stay on the two occasions was just not enough time.
I will look forward to viewing more of your work.
