Walt Disney 1918

Animator, Movie Executive, Visionary.

I know this is a horrible reproduction of a bad microform copy, but I just had to have it. This is from seventeen year old Walt's application for a passport so he could go to Europe with the Red Cross shortly after the WWI armistice to help with war relief. He was living in Chicago at the time and his parents signed documents allowing him to go.

New York Passenger Lists show Walt returning to the States on the S.S. Canada, which sailed from Marseilles, France on September 4, 1919 and arrived at New York Harbor on October 10th.

Awesome. True not very precise. But I think you can recognize him. Don't think that adding more contrast would be much of a help. But with such old and crappy originals you can't hope for more. Awesome piece for collection.

    The great Disney.

He was in the right place at the right time with exceptional skills, similar to Bill Gates.

Incidentally, someone really ought to re-scan the original photo.

The photo is found on line in a scan of Disney's passport application. The scanners clearly prioritized the clear reproduction of the text on the application rather than the photos. It also appears as if the original photo has deteriorated considerably, so a rescan of the original might not produce a much sharper image.
