The Chenda is a cylindrical percussion instrument used widely in the state of Kerala in India. Chenda Melanm ( Chendas played/beaten by a group) is the most popular and widely acclaimed native band of Kerala. More than 300 years old melam is an integral part of all festivals in Kerala irrespective of cast or religion.
