Morraine Creek HDR

    Newer Older

Safety rope was used while I climbed out to a boulder in the middle of the river under the swingbridge to take this photo.

Taken on our 10-day Christmas / New Years holiday, December 2011 to January 2012, down to The Catlins, across the south coast and up Fiordland to the Milford Sound Highway including a cruise in Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound.

See a photo by Allyeska of me taking this photo.

Great capture! How long was the shutter open for?

It's a HDR merge of three exposures, designed to expose correctly for the sky separately from the highlights in the water and the forest: 0.4, 1/4 and 1 second.

That's awesome! The photo of you looks like you are having great fun.

Yeah I enjoy getting off the beaten track and getting the angle no-one else gets (except other pros like Craig, Rob, Andris etc ... not that I consider myself in their league of course).

Great photo, good idea, good effort... Thinking of eliminating that chromatic aberration?

    8. NathanaelBC 39 months ago | reply

Pretty sure I ticked the box in Photomatix ... but could have another go at it?

    9. NathanaelBC 39 months ago | reply

Ok I put up a new version, definitely with chromatic aberration correction ticked; better?

Hey yes looks much better now! Couldn't help but mention it, cos I thought it distracted a bit from an otherwise great river photo.
