Glacial mud, Matanuska Glacier

The patterns formed by mud bubbling up and being swirled around by meltwater is fascinating. I don't know if the mud pictured above classifies as thixotropic as I didn't want to walk on it and mess it up, but here's a video I took of non-Newtonian glacial silt mud closer to the carpark: plus.google.com/u/0/+NathanaelCoyneBoehm/posts/bW2suNP4LKf
