Pearblossom Highway

In 1986 David Hockney created a photo collage entitled "Pearblossom Highway." He took photographs along the road and put them together in such a way to represent what he saw and also give a feel of the expansiveness of the western US (see his collage at www.getty.edu/art/gettyguide/artObjectDetails?artobj=112574). On a recent road trip I found myself on this same road and could not resist taking a photograph of the sign (like the one in his collage). The sky was an interesting mix of colors and made this seem much more interesting and moody.
