Ceintuur Theater, Amsterdam - facade
One of the prettiest purpose-built cinema theatres in The Netherlands, the Ceintuur Theater was erected in 1921, designed by architect Willem Noorlander. It was also one of the first buildings in Amsterdam to be constructed of enforced concrete. This not only allowed for a stunning Art Deco facade, but also a balcony that didn't need support from view-obstructing beams or columns. The cinema opened on April 2nd, 1921. The last show was on the 30th of December, 1976.
In Photoshop I've painstakingly removed all the tram's powerlines that were obscuring this masterpiece, which is my favorite theatre (architecture wise), with the Tuschinski.
In 2004 the building got a national monumental status (Rijksmonument), #527853.
