Lower Snake River
The Lower Snake River Wind Facility is Puget Sound Energy’s newest and largest wind-power operation. Completed in early 2012 in Garfield County, the facility builds on the success of PSE’s Hopkins Ridge Wind Facility, in Columbia County, and the Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility, in Kittitas County. Initial development of the Lower Snake River project was conducted under a partnership between PSE and RES Americas, Inc., with PSE becoming the project’s sole owner in August 2009. The 343-megawatt Lower Snake River Wind Facility, near Pomeroy, Wash., significantly increased PSE’s total wind-power generating capacity. Together, PSE's three wind farms can produce up to 773 megawatts of electricity. On average, the facilities' output powers about 230,000 homes.
