    Every day huge crowds flow orderly through this passage at the Tokyo's Shinagawa Station.

      I remember when I first experienced this passage at peak hour. It was utterly surreal: a wide and long river of people walking at the same pace in the same direction and all without uttering a word. The only sound was the clip-clap of shoes which sounded like little pebbles on the river bed being turned and tossed by the rapid flow.
