Oystercatcher and Reflection

Later in the morning after some time spent photographing Piping Plover chicks I settled in next to a calm tidal pool to see what would show up. As luck would have it this American oystercatcher decided to walk by right in front of me through the calm water two times. This was the second pass which was closer then the first. The light was really strong but the light direction worked out to make a clean portrait and the added reflection in the very calm water helped to add interest I thought. It was funny when this Oystercatcher walked through the pond as though it was on a mission, never stopping and walking a direct line right through. I'm just glad it chose an angle that worked out for me. Taken along the northern New Jersey coast. ~ 6/2/17 - ¹⁄₂₅₀₀ sec at f/4.0 - ISO200 ~ 500 mm ~ 500 mm f/4
