Man, I loved this assignment. I had to organize it early as I have absolutely no time this week-end (the reason why I skipped the signs assignment). So to the wing tsun training on Saturday I brought my tripod, camera and two sets of clothing to our school. And after training I waited until everyone was gone and started shooting all by me (was too embarrassed to ask someone for assistance, although things like spot on focusing are really hard alone…).
The idea was to visualize a whole set of contrasts: smooth vs. hard (hair), bright vs. dark, passive vs. aggressive, spiritual vs. down to earth, etc. And I wanted the picture setup to be like the yin yang sign. This proved very hard, as I could only control it later on the PC if the setting would fit into the yin yang pattern. As it did not perfectly I decided towards adding the sign itself in a rather subtle way.
What it took: A lot of post-work (the shadows on the ground were killing me). A picture says more than thousand words, so just check out the raw material for this shot in the comments that I will upload soon.
