Kaparot in Israel
Tonight at sundown (Sep 21, 2007) is the beginning of Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of atonement. It's a day when many observant Jews fast to atone for their sins in the past year. Another Yom Kippur tradition harkens back to the days of animal sacrifice. It involves the transferring of sins into a chicken. Photos: Quil Lawrence.
