    An antiquarian on Mahatma Gandhi street in Beirut. He specializes in Arab, Persian, and Ottoman weaponry. His back room had shelves upon shelves of carefully wrapped swords, the oldest of which were over a thousand years old.

      superb portrait. I know the sharpness of the black & white is probably a more a matter of your technical standards but there's a double meaning to it as well. The sharpness of the man, the sharpness of his intellect, the long knives all of it makes this superb characterization of the inner man. All that's missing is a rotary phone but that would waste time.

      Oh, so very marvelous. I've been trying to learn to capture portraits where the background contributes to the photo and this one does that so well. The Man and the Weaponry each make the other so much more profound. Applause!
