LBP2 - To redesign or not to redesign?
We did briefly toy with doing something fundamentally new for LBP2, however the level designers were already stuck into making the new game so anything too dramatic would have been foolhardy. Instead we concentrated on tweaks to the existing system and adding new gadgets and tools like the logic kits and the music sequencer. Visually we decided to go with a subtler reskin which reflected the new colours and the borderless bubble shapes we were experimenting with in the front end.
The radial main menu was actually one of the last changes we made, and went from “why don’t we..?” to mini-trial by half the design team to a signed off in game addition in a couple of days.
