Project Flickr Week-9 Patterns: amur Leopard At the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans ~ EXPLORE

Explore March 2,2012 HP 30

Meet Lischinka, a critically endangered Amur Leopard. She was born in 2008 at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans. There are only 35 Amur leopards left in the wild. As of December 2011, there were 176 captive Amur leopards in zoos worldwide.

This particular photo is very funny! Lischinka was laying down, rolled over on her back asleep. Behind me, about 25 yards, a volunteer for the zoo brought out 2 ferrets for the children to interact with for educational fun. As soon as those ferrets came out, Lischinka went from lazy house cat to the predator she was born to be. I think in this shot she is actually drooling a bit HA HA Those ferrets had no idea how lucky they were this afternoon!!

Her eyes may look photoshopped but they are not. Amur's trademark are their beautiful but strange blue/green eyes. I did not tint them even though they don't seem natural... they are!

This photo is almost strait out of the camera... I just lightened it a hair and then converted from RAW to Jpeg.
